Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 17 June 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SCSA — Skills & Community Service Accelerator platform ("SCSA", "platform", "we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About SCSA

SCSA is a verified skills development and experience marketplace operating across South Africa. SCSA is not an employer, recruiter or employment agency, and does not employ workers listed on the platform. SCSA facilitates connections between workers and clients.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to work or contract for services in South Africa. You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration details and for keeping your login credentials secure.

3. Platform Usage & Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the platform unlawfully; misrepresent your identity, skills or qualifications; harass or discriminate against other users; circumvent verification; scrape, reverse-engineer or interfere with the platform; or use the platform to advertise unrelated services. SCSA may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

4. Worker Responsibilities

Workers must provide truthful information, honour commitments made to clients, comply with applicable South African laws (including tax and labour law) and treat clients professionally and respectfully.

5. Employer Responsibilities

Clients (including households, businesses, NGOs and government users) must describe opportunities accurately, treat workers fairly and lawfully, pay agreed amounts promptly, and comply with all applicable South African employment, occupational health and tax legislation.

6. Verification

SCSA performs reasonable verification checks on workers and organisations. Verification does not constitute a guarantee of any worker's or organisation's conduct, performance or suitability. Users remain responsible for their own due diligence before entering into agreements.

7. Content Ownership & Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you submit (such as profile information, portfolio items and messages). You grant SCSA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and use that content as needed to operate the platform. All SCSA branding, software, designs and trademarks remain the intellectual property of SCSA and may not be copied or reused without written permission.

8. Reviews & Ratings

Reviews must be truthful and based on genuine experience. SCSA may remove reviews that are defamatory, discriminatory, fraudulent or otherwise contrary to these Terms.

9. Payments

SCSA does not currently process payments and does not take a commission. Payments are arranged directly between clients and workers. Users are responsible for their own invoicing, taxation and record-keeping in line with South African law.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

SCSA may suspend or terminate any account that breaches these Terms, places others at risk, or is reasonably suspected of fraudulent activity. You may close your account at any time from your settings.

11. Disclaimers

The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. SCSA does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free or perfectly secure. SCSA is not party to any agreement entered into between workers and clients.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, SCSA, its directors, employees and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of your use of the platform or any agreement between users.

13. Fraud & Misuse Prevention

SCSA actively monitors the platform for fraud, identity misuse, scam postings and abusive behaviour. Suspected misuse may be reported to the relevant South African authorities.

14. Community Guidelines & Professional Conduct

All users must communicate respectfully, honour the dignity of workers and clients, and avoid harassment, hate speech or discrimination on any grounds prohibited by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.

15. Electronic Communications

By using SCSA you consent to receive essential service communications by email, in line with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 ("ECTA"). SCSA does not send SMS messages.

16. Platform Availability

SCSA may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the platform at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes in advance.

17. Dispute Resolution

The parties shall first attempt to resolve any dispute in good faith. Unresolved disputes shall be referred to mediation in South Africa and, failing resolution, to the appropriate South African courts.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. The South African courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter arising from these Terms or your use of the platform.

19. Changes to these Terms

SCSA may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
